What Makes Dried Kola Nut So Important?

Dried Kola nuts are used in the food and beverage industry. Nigerian dried kola nuts (Cola Nitida) are widely accepted in the International Markets and are available in large quantities.

There are two major variants of the Nigerian kola nut from which the dried kola nut is derived: They are Cola Nitida and Cola Acuminata. There are also two major types of colour:
– Red/Pink Kola nut, grown in the Western parts and Middle Belt of the country, especially Osun, Ondo and Ogun states.
– White Kola nuts, eaten mostly in the Northern part of the country but produced in the same states as the red/pink ones (Kano State is a major hub of this type).
